St Andrews Preservation Trust Museum
St AndrewThe Trust is a charitable organisation dedicated to the preservation of the history and character of St Andrews. As part of the Trust's work they have created a fascinating museum in an old fisherman's cottage near the Cathedral. Although small, it is amazing how much they have managed to cram in. The ground floor exhibition The Museumconcentrates on old shops. Two have been recreated here: Aikman & Terras, a grocer's shop which traded in South Street between 1837 and 1981, and Keith's the Chemist, which is now a fishmonger's in South Street. Upstairs, the Trust holds an ever changing series of exhibitions on a variety of subjects. The period garden at the back of the house has been created in recent years and is one of the quietest and most beautiful spots in St Andrews.

Keith's ChemistThe Trust publishes a number of leaflets such as the Carved Stones Trails, which suggest walking routes through the town and architectural details such as marriage lintels and statuary you can look for along the way. You can get the leaflets from the museum or from the Tourist Information Centre in Market Street.
